When using my built in webcam (mainly on Skype)
my webcam sometimes randomly goes darker than it should do
it only seems to happen if im using it at night with only the light off the screen
i see myself clearly for a couple of seconds then it just goes too dark to see anything
then at random times it lights back up
i dont change any windows or anything on the computer so its the exact same lighting the whole time.
is this a problem with the Cam settings/driver or Skype?
anyone know a way to fix it?

thanks

Solution
My guess is the camera is just trying to adjust to the available lighting. It is probably on the threshold so it keeps flipping back and forth between light and dark. If it is only going by the light of the display, then it is really only going by the light bouncing off your face! So don't blink, smile, wiggle, or move forward or back in your seat as you will change the amount of light reflected.

Alternatively, put a small spot light on your face.
