Windows 7 Cannot log into routers web interface using windows 7

I am having difficulties logging into my dsl-g604t router's web interface using windows 7.

The router works fine, and I am able to access the internet from both my desktop-ethernet and laptop-wireless (also running windows 7). If I try to connect to the router to enable port forwarding, etc. it hangs. This problem only occurs on the desktop, it works fine from laptop.

I have tried the following;
disabling firewall/antivirus
entering static ip, dns, etc. in ipv4
updated to latest firmware
google chrome & firefox
Installing lastest realtek 8111c windows 7 drivers (2/6/09)

but to no avail.

I think the problem lies with windows 7 ethernet and/or realtek drivers

The router log shows this;

Jan 1 12:01:17> Connect: ppp0 {--} nas0
Jan 1 12:01:19> PAP authentication succeeded
Jan 1 12:01:19> peer from calling number 00:90:1A:A0:01:B5 authorized

Jan 1 16:24:07> get 0xF at Addr 0xA30085B0

Could the problem be the timeout?

Are you sure you are trying to connect to the router's LAN interface? The log indicates that you are timing out accessing the ISP's gateway, but you should be hitting your local gateway to program....something more like 192.168.1.1...

the local lan address to the d-link router is 10.1.1.1, which is what I am using.

I might have had a win though, seems to be working last night when I enabled compatabilty mode in IE8 when accessing 10.1.1.1

Will check again tonight to see if it still works.

~ IE8 you say?

try using Firefox to access it and see if you have the same issues...I think you're onto something with the compatibility settings, although you may also need to set that IP up as a trusted site.

Fixed!!!! the culprit was AVG's LinkScanner with Search-Shield for safe searching and Active Surf-Shield for safe surfing/browsing.

Wierd that its only effecting my desktop pc loaded with windows 7 and not when its loaded with Vista nor does it effect the window 7 laptop.
