Hi

When my wife logs into her Comcast home page the local news and weather are set to Philadelphia Pen, unfortunately we live in Ada Michigan.

No matter how often we change it to the local zip it always changes back when Chrome is restarted.

It doesn't do this on my computer in Chrome or on her's in Internet Explorer.
Only in Chrome, on her computer.

I looked for some kind of preferences file that I could delete but didn't find anything that made any difference.

Anyone have any idea how I can make the zip code stick?

Any help appreciated.

Mike

Hi Mike, It seems like your wife is facing a persistent issue with the zip code settings on her Comcast home page when using Chrome. This specific behavior could be due to various factors, such as browser settings, cookies, cache, or extensions interfering with the page's functionality. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Clear Browser Data

  1. Clear Cache and Cookies: It's possible that cached data or cookies are causing the zip code to revert. Try clearing the cache and cookies in Chrome.
    • Open Chrome, go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Clear Browsing Data.
    • Select "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files," then click "Clear data."

      Browser Settings

    • Open Chrome, go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Clear Browsing Data.

      Browser Settings

[]Check Chrome Settings: Ensure that Chrome is not set to clear cookies and site data upon exit.
    • In Chrome, go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and other site data. Make sure the setting is not configured to clear data when Chrome is closed.

      Extensions and Add-ons

    [
]Disable Extensions: Some Chrome extensions could interfere with the settings. Try disabling extensions one by one to identify if any particular extension is causing the issue.
    • Go to Chrome > More Tools > Extensions to manage extensions.

      Site Settings

[]Site Permissions: Check the site settings for the Comcast home page to see if there are any specific permissions causing the zip code to reset.
    • Click on the lock icon in the address bar while on the Comcast page and check the permissions.

      User Profile

    [
]Chrome User Profile: There could be an issue with the user profile in Chrome.
    • Try creating a new Chrome user profile for your wife and see if the issue persists in the new profile.

      Troubleshooting in Chrome

  2. Reset Chrome Settings: If none of the above steps work, you can reset Chrome settings to default.
    • In Chrome, go to Settings > Advanced > Reset settings. By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the issue with the zip code reverting on the Comcast home page. If the issue persists, please let me know, and we can explore further options to address the problem.
