Windows 7 Change how other programs appear in Windows 7

Just started using a new computer with Windows 7. All the programs I open have smaller text than on all my other computers. It is really hard to see all the icons, drop-down menu items, etc. on the programs because of this. Is there any way to change the way all my installed programs appear? I would like to make them all larger.

I tried changing the resolution on my monitor, but this did not change the appearance at all.
