  • Under the "Input" section, make sure the correct microphone is selected and its volume levels are appropriate.
  • Adjust the microphone sensitivity to see if it reduces the static.
  • Update Audio Drivers:
  • Outdated or faulty audio drivers can cause issues. Update your audio drivers to the latest version. You can do this through Device Manager or by visiting the manufacturer's website.
  • Disable Enhancements:
  • Sometimes, audio enhancements can interfere and cause static. Disable any audio enhancements in the Sound settings:
  • Right-click on the speaker icon in the system tray and select "Sounds."
  • Go to the "Playback" tab, right-click on your playback device, select "Properties," and then disable all enhancements under the "Enhancements" tab.
  • Background Noise:
  • Ensure there are no sources of electrical interference near your microphone, such as mobile phones, routers, or other electrical devices.
  • Change USB Port:
  • If you are using a USB microphone, try connecting it to a different USB port on your computer to rule out any port-related issues.
  • Test in Another Application:
  • Test your microphone in another application to determine if the issue is specific to Skype. Use the Voice Recorder app or another voice communication application.
  • Check Skype Settings:
  • In Skype, ensure that the correct microphone is selected in the settings. You can access this by clicking on your profile picture > Settings > Audio & Video.
  • Software Updates:
  • Make sure Skype and all related software are up to date. Check for any pending updates and install them.
  • Hardware Check:
  • If possible, test the microphone on another computer to check if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem lies with the microphone itself.
