Know those wrinklies who are technology challenged - well I’m one!
FIRST POSTING
I have what appears to be a simple problem - I cannot delete/move any files on a DVD. (Other CD/DVD seem ok)
I have an Acer with Vista HP, when using Win Explorer - Properties report disc full - but I know that it isn’t.
I want to delete some photos and also some outdated genealogical backup files (Yes I’m one of those anoraks!) I can send by email to myself but just can’t erase.
Apologies if this has appeared previously.
Any help appreciated.

It seems like you're facing an issue with deleting or moving files on a specific DVD in Windows Vista. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this problem:

Steps to Delete or Move Files on a DVD in Windows Vista:

    ]Try Deleting/Format in Safe Mode:
    • Boot your computer into Safe Mode and attempt to delete or move the files. Sometimes, certain processes or software can interfere with disk operations.
    []Check for File System Errors:
    • Run a disk check to scan and fix any file system errors on the DVD. Here's how:
      • Open Command Prompt with administrative privileges.
      • Type chkdsk D: /f (replace D: with the drive letter of your DVD) and press Enter.
      • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the disk check.
    [
    ]Check DVD Compatibility:
    • Confirm that the DVD format is compatible with Windows Vista. Some DVDs may use formats that Vista cannot read/write to.
    []Try Another DVD Drive:
    • If possible, try using a different DVD drive or computer to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem lies with the DVD or the computer.
    [
    ]Update Drivers:
    • Ensure that your DVD drive's drivers are up-to-date. You can do this through Device Manager or by visiting the manufacturer's website for driver updates.
  2. Backup Important Data:
    • Before attempting any troubleshooting steps, make sure to backup any important data on the DVD to prevent data loss.

      Additional Tips:

      • Test the DVD on Another Device: Confirm if the DVD works properly on another device to isolate the issue.
      • Physical Inspection: Check for scratches or physical damage on the DVD that might be hindering its functionality.
Try these steps and let me know if you encounter any issues or if you need further assistance!
