I get the error 3017 when trying to execute Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth in cmd. I need to fix this error in order to execute sfc /scannow(now its stuck at 100% verification). Please help!
Error 3017 is Microsoft shorthand for “it wasn’t us but something crashed”… the error generally indicates a network dropout but could be caused by any 3rd party system.
I’d recommend checking that the (internet) service provider is still there and hasn’t placed you onto some sort of metered connection… then check the system and temp turn off any 3rd party firewalls and try again in a day or two.
p.s. What where you doing which requires an image Clean-up… i.e. more info please?
I want to thank everyone for their help! The solution that MikeHawthorne suggested didnt work(all 3 ways)
The reason I would like to run Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth:
I was trying to install directx from the bf4 folder,in order to run it more efficiently and it popped an error at the installation. Someone suggested that I had to run sfc /scannow to fix that error. Then sfc /scannow stuck at 100% Verification and someone else suggested to run Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth.
P.s. Josephur could you be more specific because I dont know much about windows (I am a bit of a linux guy!)
Are you running some kind of DirectX version that was included with BF4? In windows 8.1 if you have all Windows Updates then you have the latest version already.
If it uses version 9 of DirectX you can install the latest via this link: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
I wouldn't use some old installer that came with a game...
I see some of the errors in your log are commonly to do with .NET Framework 3.5. When you go to "Turn Windows features on and off", can you try deselecting the very top item (.NET Framework 3.5), reboot, then go back and and re-select it, then reboot again, then try dism once more. Post back with results.
