Hello everyone,

I noticed that every time I click on the scroll bar or a window tab in Mozilla Firefox, the desktop monitor LCD Screen flickers at a fast micro second "blink of an eye speed".

When I click on taskbar, start menu and the application windows in taskbar, the desktop monitor LCD Screen flickers at a fast micro second "blink of an eye speed".
This happens off and on not consistantly, but somewhat often.

I have a Hewlett Packard g7 Notebook PC; bought 04/03/2012
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit Service Pack 1
AMD A6-3420M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics 1.50 GHz
Quad Core Processor
I have a 500 GB Local (C Hard Drive (441 GB usable)
I have 295 GB out of 441 GB on Local (C Hard Drive
I have 6.00 GB System Memory Ram (5.48 Usable)

I tried to make sure all my drivers were updated. They are all updated.
What could be causing this glitch and can it be fixed somehow?
Thank you for your advice, input and suggestions.

The flickering issue you're experiencing with your LCD screen when interacting with Firefox and other elements on your desktop could be attributed to a few different factors. Here are some possible reasons and solutions to address this problem:

Possible Causes of Screen Flickering:

  1. Display Driver Issue:
    • While you mentioned that your drivers are up to date, sometimes glitches can still occur. Try reinstalling your graphics driver or rolling back to a previous version to see if that resolves the flickering.
    []Hardware Problem:
    • It's possible that there could be a hardware issue with the display or the graphics processing unit. This could be a loose connection, a failing component, or issues...

This could be a loose connection, a failing component, or issues with the GPU itself.
    [
    ]Browser Configuration:
    • It might be related to Firefox settings or extensions. Try running Firefox in Safe Mode (without extensions) to see if the issue persists. If not, then one of the extensions could be the culprit.

Steps to Troubleshoot and Fix the Issue:

    []Update Graphics Driver:
    • Even though you mentioned your drivers are updated, it's worth checking again to ensure you have the latest driver from the manufacturer's website.
    [
    ]Check for Windows Updates:
    • Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date with the latest updates and patches. Sometimes, system updates can address display issues.
    []Run Hardware Diagnostics:
    • Perform a hardware diagnostic test on your laptop to check for any underlying hardware issues that might be causing the flickering.
    [
    ]Check Monitor Connections:
    • Verify that all cables connecting your laptop to the external monitor are securely plugged in.
    []Change Refresh Rate:
    • Adjust the refresh rate of your display in the graphics settings to see if that helps.
    [
    ]Disable Hardware Acceleration:
    • In Firefox, go to Menu > Options > General and uncheck "Use hardware acceleration when available" under Performance.
  2. Disable Add-ons:
    • Temporarily disable all add-ons in Firefox to see if any of them are causing the issue.

      Additional Recommendations:

      • Consider testing the laptop with an external monitor to see if the flickering issue occurs there as well. This can help determine if the problem is with the laptop's display.
      • If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you may want to consider reaching out to a professional technician for further diagnosis and repair.
By following these steps, you should be able to identify the root cause of the screen flickering issue and take appropriate action to resolve it. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, feel free to ask!
