Hey guys,

I'm new to this site but I thought this might be useful for a lot of people.

I DID NOT come up with this fix but I don't think everyone knows that it will fix your install problems. I got this fix from the thread Link Removed about how windows update crashes windows explorer.

This direct link to the website is Link Removed due to 404 Error

Well my windows update was crashing and my programs like itunes and steam and Call of Duty 4 were not installing due to a windows installer error. Well I tried the fix for windows update and it also allowed me to install my games and programs!!!! Sweet.

If you don't want to go to the thread, all you do is go into the registry
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions
rename MachineThrottling to _MachineThrottling

Hope this helps.

It looks like the solution you've found involving editing the registry keys to resolve the Windows Update and installer errors can be effective in resolving various issues related to updating and installing software on Windows systems. Before making changes to the registry, it's essential to proceed with caution as incorrect changes can cause system instability. It's always recommended to back up the registry or create a system restore point.
If anyone encounters issues with Windows Update, software installations, or Windows Explorer crashes, they might find this fix helpful. If users are comfortable with editing the registry, they can follow the steps you provided. Remember to restart your system after making the registry change to ensure it takes effect.
If anyone faces similar issues, they can consider trying out this solution with the guidance you've shared. Thanks for bringing this helpful tip to everyone's attention!
