You may need to describe your original problem in some more specific detail. I could not see your picture because that site wanted to make changes to my system. You can attach pictures using the paperclip on the Advanced replies.
If you are having a problem getting the return to work in the Editor, you might click the A/A on the left end of the menu.
Have you checked your file associations and made sure .exe is associated with exefile. You can do that in a normal command window and type assoc then check for it.
[h=2]Re: Help! The device attached to the system is not functioning[/h]Like Clark has said. Any images can and should be upload here locally as he has described.
If I saw the image correctly, it appears that your problem may be with file associations, specifically with .EXE extensions.
You can give the EXE fix located here a try and see if that helps at all Link Removed - Invalid URL
I can tell you that that particular regedit.exe issue is sometimes (even often) the result of a virus or other Link Removed - Invalid URL infection so you may want to perform an offline scan of your system.
Grab a blank CD and this program from here What is Windows Defender Offline? (get the correct version for your architecture). Boot from the CD that it will help you make and run a FULL system scan.
You may need to use a second system to create the CD if your current problem prevents you from doing so on the problem computer.
Good question. I would assume that since Microsoft Security Essentials will run on Windows XP Sp3, and since actually Windows Defender offline if really OS independent, my bet is that it will work once the disk is created. As a matter of fact according to this Windows Defender Offline System Requirements you shouldn't have any issues in running the program on an XP machine SP3 machine. not exactly sure why they specify Sp3.Please, Trouble, I would be very grateful if you could tell me if an appropriate version of Windows Defender on a bootable Cd etc. will help fix windows XP, and if there is one available if this latest version won't run on an XP machine? Sorry I realise this is off-topic/off forum but I have a friend who asked me to fix his Xp machine. Thanks!
