Hi

I was considering running refresh on my new PC because to the firewall problem discussed in the support forum.

Medicted60 pointed out that if you do that you lose all your installed software.

This is kind of like shooting your horse because you have a bad saddle, do I'm going to leave well enough alone.

I found this information about how to use refresh without losing all your installed software.

How to reinstall Windows 8 without losing your files and programs | ExtremeTech

It's too late to do this for me since I would just be putting the same Windows with a non working firewall back in place, but I may do it so that I can get back to where I'm at if I need to.

Maybe this has no advantage to just making an Acronnis back up but it's worth reading and is very clear about how to go through the process.
