Hello,

I am have a torrid tome trying to figure this one out. I have just bought a new Samsung notebook and cant get some of the other computers on the network to view the shared library folders.

There are three computers on the Homegroup (ie all windows 7) lets call them Samsung, Acer, DesktopPC.
The network is via a wireless router

On each machine the other two computers can be seen listed under the "Homegroup" tag

The issue that i have, is that even though the DesktopPC can see the shared folders from the Samsung it cannot access them "Windows cannot access \\SAMSUNG\FOLDER\, you do not have permission to access \\SAMSUNG\\FOLDER\... blah blah blah..."

However,

The DesktopPC can access Acer's shared files and folders in the Homegroup
The Acer can access DesktopPC and Samsung's shared files and folders
The Samsung can access Acer's and Desktop PC shared files and folders

So, I am stuck for an answer for this and I have searched for a solution until my fingers have bled.

What do I need to do to get the DesktopPC to have permission to access Samsung's shared files and folders on the Homegroup? Is it a problem/setting with the DesktopPC or the new Samsung?

Thanks in advance.

]Check Network Discovery and File Sharing:
    • Ensure that Network Discovery and File Sharing are enabled on both devices. You can find these settings in the Network and Sharing Center under Control Panel.
    []Check Firewall and Antivirus Settings:
    • Temporarily disable the firewall and any third-party antivirus software on both devices to see if they are blocking access to the shared folders.
    [
    ]Create a New Homegroup:
    • Try creating a new Homegroup on one of the devices and then join the other devices to this new Homegroup to see if it resolves the access issue.
    []Check User Accounts:
    • Make sure that the user accounts on both devices have the necessary permissions to access shared folders. You might need to check the Homegroup settings to manage user permissions.
    [
    ]Use Advanced Sharing Settings:
    • Adjust advanced sharing settings on both devices to ensure that they are configured to allow sharing with devices on the network.
  2. Restart Devices:
    • Sometimes, a simple restart of all devices on the network can resolve connectivity issues.

      Next Steps:

Try these steps one by one and check if any of them resolve the access problem for the DesktopPC to access the shared folders on the Samsung notebook. If the issue persists, it may require further investigation into the specific network and sharing settings on both devices.
