I just bought a new laptop with Win 10 Home on it and I want to make the logon password the same as the old one, which was "not" the Microsoft account password. When I set the new one up it only uses the Microsoft password and if I change it the Microsoft password also changes.

How do I just change the computer logon password and leave the Microsoft Account password unchanged?

Thanks!

Can't you switch to a PIN code instead of password? The pin code is local and won't affect your MS password.

how do I do that

Go to 'All settings' than select 'Accounts' and from there log on options
I am on a Dutch version of Windows, so the options you will see may be slightly different - Sorry

An image from 'Logon Password'. Windows sign-in options screen showing password, PIN, and picture password settings.
