Windows Vista Installation shuts the computer down

I have tried several times to install windows vista with no success. The machine I'm running has an nVidia nForce 430 motherboard which has a 6150 graphics chip, 768MB on RAM, 80GB HDD and an AMD Sempron 3200+. This is not the best PC ever, but according to Microsoft, powerful enough to run Windows Vista with Aero enabled.
The probem comes just in the setup. If booting from the DVD, the installer finishes the "loading files" phase, and then the sliding bar appears, and then it just shuts down. No error messages, no questions, no nothing, it just halts.
I cannot upgrade since I'm running Windows XP Pro spanish and I have Windows Vista english. I have tried the clean install from inside WinXP, and it copies the files, expands it, and then reinstalls to continue, then the "loading files" phases starts and ends, and then the sliding bar appears, and halts again.
Any idea of what this might be?
