Many of my Internet shortcuts have the site's (URL's) own icon next to thename (on the left of the shortcut name). However, many of the shortcuts have the genericInternet Explorer icon on the left of the shortcut name. Is there a way to alwaysget the site's own icon to the left of the shortcut's name?

Solution
Having the site's icon displayed next to the shortcut name can make it easier to identify and access your favorite websites. To ensure that the site's icon is always displayed next to the shortcut name instead of the generic Internet Explorer icon, you can follow these steps:

Method 1: Manually Change the Shortcut Icon

  1. Right-click on the shortcut with the generic Internet Explorer icon.
  2. Select "Properties" from the context menu.
  3. In the Properties window, go to the "Web Document" tab.
  4. Click on the "Change Icon" button.
  5. Browse to the website's URL and select it to see if a specific icon is available. If not, you can select a custom icon.
  6. Click "OK" to save the changes.

    Method 2: Use a Third-Party Tool
