Hi,

I have a Windows 10 laptop and would like to be able to use it to access my Windows 7 pc without using an Ethernet cable as that is used to connect to the internet?

Failing that is there a way I can use the laptop as the monitor for the pc?

Well the assumption is that both systems are on the same network so you should be about to connect to the other as long as you have the ip address.

Have you tried Laplink? Last time I used it, some time ago, you bought the software and a special networking cable and could transfer directly from one machine to the other.

If you have a wireless router and they're both plugged in then you have a network and you can connect to the other computer.

These two standalone machines will connect to each other.
You just need the IP address of both the devices to connect them to each other.
