Yesterday i installed an Windows update and i restarted the computer right before i left, cos i were going out with some friends.

When i came back it was off, and when i tried to turn it on it says "No bootable device -- insert boot cd".

And i dont have a boot cd cos this computer had preinstalled windows 7.

I can acces the Setup, but i dont know what to do there :p

And I DONT WANT TO do anything which makes me lose all my stuff.

Any ideas please?

I don't suppose you know what updates were installed, and do you allow optional updates that might have updated a hardware driver?

Will it boot in safe mode? Is it still trying to finish the update?

You can download a Win 7 recovery CD from Neosmart Technologies, which uses a torrent, or something like one.

I am assuming you have access to another computer for downloading and burning the CD.

Saltgrass is correct -- have you attempted to boot into SafeMode? If so, can you attempt to uninstall the Windows Updates that were installed?

If you can also press "F8" on boot, can you access "Repair Your Computer" to get you access to Start Up Repair?

From Start Up repair you might want to try two things:

1. Repair my computer

2. System Restore

Do any of the aforementioned suggestions work?
