Alright - the driver installation.
This is what I suspect is the problem, as the FIFA installation should've gone through easily. (Millions of people have failed spectacularly in installing the new NVIDIA drivers - there are, indeed, ways to install the drivers correctly).
Install Driver Sweeper here:
Driver Sweeper 3.2.0 - TechSpot Downloads it scans your computer for any outdated/broken drivers.
Download BUT DO NOT INSTALL the latest NVIDIA Drivers here:
Drivers | GeForce Remember, just download the .exe file, but don't double click it or anything.
Then put the file on your desktop or somewhere easy to find.
Now, instructions:
1. Reboot the computer, repeatedly press
F8 to access Advanced Boot Options. Select Safe Mode.
2. When Safe Mode has loaded,
Start > QuickSearch “Device Manager” or
Start > Control Panel > View by: Large Icons > Device Manager.
3. On Device Manager -
Display Adapters > [select onboard GPU] – right click > Uninstall. Do not select the option
Delete the driver software for this device.
4. Uninstall the GPU.
5. Now Run Driver Sweeper. Tick the Boxes "NVIDIA PHYSX" and "NVIDIA CHIPSET". Don't tick the Box "NVIDIA DISPLAY". Now select "Clean". Let it run through, and reboot when prompted.
6. On Windows, wait for the card to reinstall. When the card is reinstalled, you should receive the message
“Device [GPU Name] has been successfully installed – [GPU NAME]”. When you receive this notification, reboot your computer one more time.
7. After the reboot, install the pre-downlaoded driver. Select the box on the install menu "Clean install" (NOTE: That button just resets the drivers, you still have to do steps 1 to 6). Install the driver.
8. Reboot the computer one more time, and retest the problem.
Come back with the results and see if it's fixed.
If it is - good.
If it isn't - suspects: Audio Drivers, Windows 8 corruption and, possibly, the FIFA 13 installation. But we'll get to that if the problem does come back.
