Windows Vista Monitor Speakers Not Working but Earphones Functioning

My speakers on my monitor will not work for some reason . However my earphones do work. Help

go into your device manager (start search > device mngr) and expand sound, video and game controllers if there is a yellow exclamation mark next to your audio device uninstall it from it's properties reboot your pc and go back into device manager on the audio device select update driver software
