Installed 64-bit Lightroom 2.5 on new Win-7 box. Entered serial numbers and LR started OK, but when I close LR and restart, it asks for serial numbers again

Lightroom Forum provided the link You must enter your serial number each time you open Photoshop Lightroom 1.x, which gives registry-fix paths for Vista and XP to change permissions to save serial numbers, but these paths don't exist in Win 7. I searched the registry for "serial_number," "registration," and other possibilities, but no luck.

Adobe responded, in part, as follows:

"We believe your issue is resolved and have therefore closed your case #202645724."

"About your concern, try to check the system requirement of the product if it will run on a 64 bit. We are still conducting test since Windows 7 is a new Operating System."

I'd be very grateful for any assistance.

Solution
I couldn't find specific information on the Lightroom 2.5 serial number registry location for Windows 7. Given the lack of direct guidance, we can attempt a manual search within the Windows registry to identify the location where Lightroom 2.5 might be storing the serial numbers. Here's how you can do that:
  1. Open Registry Editor:
    • Press Windows Key + R, type in regedit, and hit Enter.
[]Navigate to the Adobe Lightroom Key:
    • Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\ or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\ in the registry editor.
    • Look for a key related to Lightroom or Lightroom 2.5.

    ]Check for Serial Number Entries:
    • Look for specific entries...

    ]Check for Serial Number Entries:
    • Look for specific entries related to serial numbers, registration, or licensing within the Lightroom key. These entries may vary in naming conventions.
  2. Modify Registry Entries:
    • If you find relevant entries, you might need to check their permissions and ensure they are set correctly to retain the serial numbers. Make sure to create a backup of your registry before making any changes. Incorrect modifications to the registry can cause system instability. Try this manual search within the registry to locate and potentially resolve the issue with Lightroom 2.5 asking for serial numbers repeatedly. If you encounter any specific entries, let me know, and I can guide you on how to proceed with modifying them.
