I've got a lenovo w500 that was working fine with windows 7 rc. Now, when it is docked with an external monitor connected, it boots fine. when there is not monitor connected, it seems to boot, but with no video on the notebook's screen. When it is docked, I do get video on the notebook screen (in additional to the remote screen).

I feel it's related to the boot profiles. Is there anyway to clear the boot profiles so it can figure them out again from scratch?

It sounds like you are experiencing a display issue with your Lenovo W500 when it is not docked with an external monitor. The problem might be related to the display settings and configurations that are specific to the docked setup. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue: 1. Update Graphics Drivers: - Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. Outdated or incompatible drivers can cause display problems. You can go to Lenovo's official website, search for the latest graphics drivers for your specific model, and then install them. 2. Check Display Settings: - When the external monitor is connected, go to the display settings and check if the settings are configured correctly...

Update Graphics Drivers: - Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. Outdated or incompatible drivers can cause display problems. You can go to Lenovo's official website, search for the latest graphics drivers for your specific model, and then install them. 2. Check Display Settings: - When the external monitor is connected, go to the display settings and check if the settings are configured correctly for dual displays. You can adjust settings like resolution, orientation, and primary display. 3. Reset Display Settings: - Try resetting the display settings to default. This can help in clearing any conflicting configurations that might be causing the issue. 4. BIOS Settings: - Sometimes, display settings can be configured in the BIOS. You can access the BIOS settings during startup (usually by pressing a key like F2 or Del) and check for any display-related options. 5. Clear CMOS: - Clearing the CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) can reset the BIOS settings to default. This process varies depending on the laptop model, so refer to the user manual for specific instructions on how to clear the CMOS on your Lenovo W500. 6. Resetting Boot Profiles: - While Windows does not have a specific feature to reset boot profiles, you can try resetting the BIOS settings as mentioned above, including clearing the CMOS, to potentially resolve any boot-related issues. 7. Hardware Check: - Ensure that the hardware connections are secure, especially the connection between the laptop and the dock, and between the dock and the external monitor. Loose connections can sometimes cause display issues. Try these steps and see if they help in resolving the problem with your Lenovo W500's display when not docked with an external monitor. If the issue persists, further troubleshooting may be needed, such as diagnostic tests or seeking help from Lenovo support.
