I have setup a test server environment to do my testings. Before I was using vmware and I was able to get an ip from the router for each virtual box. Well now that i have a dedicated pc for that I want to connect it through my win7 pc via eth and use the wireless connection to get access to the router and internet. So far I get the same ip and both machines . but only win7 connects to the internet.

help plz.

It sounds like you're facing an issue with networking on your test server environment and your Windows 7 PC. To troubleshoot and ensure both machines can access the internet via your router, here are some steps you can take:

Step 1: Check Network Settings

  1. Static IPs: Ensure that each machine has a unique static IP address.
  2. Subnet Mask: Confirm that both machines have the same subnet mask.
  3. Default Gateway: Check that the default gateway on both machines is set to your router's IP address.
  4. DNS Settings: Verify that the DNS settings are correct on both machines.

Step 2: Network Sharing Settings on Windows 7

  5. Network Sharing: Ensure that network sharing is enabled on your...

Step 2: Network Sharing Settings on Windows 7

  5. Network Sharing: Ensure that network sharing is enabled on your Windows 7 PC.
  6. Network Discovery: Turn on network discovery to allow the test server to be visible on the network.

    Step 3: Verify Connection

  7. Ping Test: Perform a ping test from each machine to the router to check connectivity.
  8. Internet Access: Try accessing a website from the test server to verify internet connectivity.

    Step 4: Troubleshooting

  9. Firewall Settings: Check firewall settings on both machines to ensure they are not blocking access to the internet.
  10. IP Conflict: Make sure there are no IP conflicts on the network.

    Additional Tips:

    • Network Bridge: Consider setting up a network bridge on your Windows 7 PC to share its wireless connection with the test server.
    • Restart Devices: Sometimes a simple restart of the router and machines can resolve connectivity issues.
If you continue to experience issues, provide specific details about your network configuration, such as IP addresses, subnet masks, and default gateways, so we can offer more targeted assistance.
