to whom it may concern..As from my posts in the Media Center forum, I found out that the NVidia FX5500 + 96.85 vista whql driver on my home built MSI 7509 (Neo V2) / AMD X2 3800+, in a dual display setup with LCD+TV will freeze teh computer when using navigation / windowing MCE. When disabling either display (be it LCD or TV) behaviour is fine. Different BIOS settings did not influence the freezes.

Solution
It seems like you are experiencing freezing issues with your Nvidia FX5500 graphics card when using the 96.85 Vista WHQL driver on your MSI 7509 (Neo V2) motherboard with an AMD X2 3800+ processor in a dual display setup with an LCD and TV connected. The fact that the computer freezes during navigation or windowing in Windows Media Center (MCE) suggests a compatibility issue between the driver and the setup you are using. Here are some steps you might want to consider to address this freezing problem: 1. Driver Update: Check for any updated drivers from Nvidia that might address this freezing issue. Sometimes, newer driver versions can resolve compatibility problems. 2. Driver Clean Installation: Perform a clean installation...

2. Driver Clean Installation: Perform a clean installation of the graphics driver. This involves completely uninstalling the current driver and installing a fresh copy to ensure no conflicting remnants are causing the freeze. 3. Dual Display Configuration: Experiment with different dual-display configurations. Try switching the primary display, changing resolutions, or adjusting refresh rates to see if any particular setup prevents the freezing. 4. BIOS Update: Ensure that your motherboard BIOS is up to date. Sometimes, BIOS updates can improve system stability and compatibility with hardware components. 5. System Resource Monitoring: Monitor system resources while using MCE in the dual display setup. Check for any unusual spikes in CPU or memory usage that might be triggering the freezes. 6. Graphics Card Health: Verify the health of your Nvidia FX5500 graphics card. Overheating or hardware issues could also lead to system freezes. 7. Windows Updates: Make sure your Windows operating system is fully updated. Some system updates might also include fixes for known compatibility issues. 8. Testing Components: If possible, test the setup with different components (graphics card, motherboard, CPU) to isolate the source of the problem. By following these steps, you might be able to troubleshoot and resolve the freezing issue you are facing when using the Nvidia FX5500 graphics card in a dual display setup with MCE.
