i've been trying to get a dual display working for my computer but cant. have a 19" monitor, and want to use my tv as a second monitor. an svideo to rgb adapter came with my nvidia 9800gt video card and so i picked up some rgb component cables to run to the tv. first tried to set up dual screen, didnt work. any time i try to set up dual screen, primary monitor display settings get screwed up and it says it cant save the settings. i can only set the monitor on ``show desktop only on 1`` settings. can unplug the monitor and use tv as primary screen, and can boot up in safe mode, but fails during regular boot at log in screen and goes blank. any ideas

It seems like you are facing issues setting up a dual display with your 19" monitor and TV using an s-video to RGB adapter that came with your NVIDIA 9800GT video card. The problems you are encountering, such as the primary monitor display settings getting messed up when attempting to set up dual screens, indicate some configuration or compatibility issues. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve this: 1. Check Hardware Connections: - Ensure that all cables are securely connected between your computer, monitor, and TV. - Verify that the s-video to RGB adapter is compatible with your TV and supported by your graphics card. 2. Update Graphics Drivers: - Update the drivers for your NVIDIA 9800GT video card...

Update Graphics Drivers: - Update the drivers for your NVIDIA 9800GT video card to the latest version. Outdated drivers can cause display issues. 3. Adjust Display Settings: - Open the NVIDIA Control Panel and check the display settings. Make sure both the monitor and TV are detected. - Set the resolution and refresh rate to values supported by both the monitor and TV. 4. Try Different Connection Methods: - If possible, try using different types of cables to connect the TV as a second monitor (e.g., HDMI, VGA). - Test the TV as the primary display to see if the issue persists. 5. Reset Display Settings: - Revert all display settings to default and then try to set up the dual display again. 6. Check for Windows Updates: - Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date by installing any pending updates. This can sometimes resolve display issues. 7. Safe Mode Boot: - If you can boot in Safe Mode successfully, it might indicate a driver conflict. Try uninstalling display drivers in Safe Mode and then reinstall them in regular mode. 8. Check Display Settings in BIOS: - Access the BIOS settings and verify if there are any options related to display output that need adjustment. 9. Test with Another Computer: - Test the TV with another computer if possible to determine if the issue lies with the TV or the computer setup. By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the issues you are facing with setting up a dual display configuration with your 19" monitor and TV. If the problem persists, it may be beneficial to consult with a computer technician for further assistance.
