Office 2007 Installation Fails - SOLVED!!

I'm new to the forum and although I've searched I can't find a solution to this problem. I'm trying to install Office 2007 Enterprise Addition on a new Windows 7 install. I double-click the self-extracting executable, it starts the extraction, fails, and pops up a diologue box that says "The Installation of this package failed"...nothing else even remotely useful. I've googled it and some seem to think it has to do with encryption of the %temp% folder the self-extractor is attempting to extract the setup files to. I've followed the steps in the following link on the Microsoft support web page with no luck:

Has anyone else encountered this problem and found a solution? It's driving me nuts.
