I have an account on OneDrive for Business. After synching, I see a OneDrive header in Windows explorer. I didn't like the name Windows gave it so I changed it to something else. I did this by opening the "OneDrive" tree, selecting the library and changed the name.

But after re-boot, I find that while Windows kept the new library name in the OneDrive tree, it has not only AUTOMATICALLY added the library to my Favorites, but it kept the ORIGINAL name, not the name I changed it to! If I delete OneDrive folder from my Favorites, WIndows just keeps automatically adding it again. This is SO ANNOYING!!

How do I get it to stop that? I do not want any OneDrive folders to appear in Favorites, especially if it's going to keep using the original name.

Thanks in advance.

Solution
To stop OneDrive folders from automatically appearing in your Favorites in Windows Explorer, you can follow these steps:
  1. Remove OneDrive from Favorites:
    • Open Windows Explorer.
    • Navigate to the "Favorites" section.
    • Right-click on the "OneDrive" folder and select "Remove from Quick access" or "Remove from Favorites" to remove it from there.
    []Change Settings in OneDrive:
    • Open the OneDrive application on your computer.
    • Click on the settings (gear) icon.
    • Select "Settings" from the dropdown menu.
    • In the "Settings" tab, uncheck the option that says "Add OneDrive to the navigation pane."
    • Save your changes.

    • Warning: Editing the registry can have unintended consequences if not done correctly. Proceed with caution and make sure to back up your registry before making any changes.
    • Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
    • Type regedit and hit Enter to open the Registry Editor.
    • Navigate to the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace
    • Look for the OneDrive folder (you can identify it using the S-1-5-21 identifier).
    • Delete the key for the OneDrive folder to remove it from the Favorites. By following these steps, you should be able to prevent the OneDrive folders from automatically appearing in your Favorites, even after changing the name in Windows Explorer. If you are uncomfortable with modifying registry settings, it's best to stick with the first two methods.
