As a long time Opera user and supporter, of note are the following two statements in the link provided above.

Many distinctive features of the previous versions are no longer present, while Opera Mail has been split into a standalone application derived from Opera 12.

The Opera 15 release has been criticized by some users for missing features such as bookmarking and UI customization, and for abandoning Opera Software's own Presto engine.

The Opera browser has been updated to Version 15.0.1147.153. The change notes for this update are not available

I've been aware of this update for a while now, but have not tried it out, because from what I've read, it sounds like Chrome with an Opera Skin on it. At least that is the impression that a bunch of other Opera users were squawking about. If true, it sounds like that Opera has decided to stop developing their own browser, and I will stick with the latest version of 12.
