I was okay down to the copy and paste part. Also not sure you were telling me to open the device mgr. on my broken LT or my new one? The new one has a Realtek RTL 8188 EE 802.11 b/g/n wifi adapter. The old LT had nothing of value when I tried the same operation on it period.

the one thing I am missing is a wifi connection on the laptop. (because I accidently used the restore disks from my desktop) How can I get a driver to install a wifi program?
What is it that you need a wifi driver for.
In most instances drivers for laptops are best acquired from the laptop manufacturer's website.
Otherwise you can go directly to the device manufacturer's website and get one from there. Like in the case of a Realtek 8188 http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...n=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true

What happened was, I mistakenly downloaded a desktop recovery disk onto my laptop and because the desktop has no need for wifi my laptop now has no wifi.. A friend is coming over with a wifi file downloaded from Toshiba. Hopefully, once I can get on line, I will be able to get the LT squared away,
