hey mates,

maybe someone can help me with this:

i got a creative xtremegamer soundcard and use the beta drivers for windows 7 provided by creative. the sound and all works perfectly fine.
the only problem i have is that as i use ventrilo i need my mic boost on but i just do not find the option so i will not hear the sound from my mic through the speakers and therefor always have an annoying noise with mic boost enabled beside it is annoying to get the sound of myself on the speakers (oddly enough i don't hear me talk but just hear me breath from time to time or when i put down the mic on the table and the like)

any help appreciated

thanks in advance

Hello Xen, It seems like you are encountering some issues with the mic boost settings on your Creative XtremeGamer sound card while using Ventrilo on Windows 7. To solve this problem, you may need to adjust the mic boost settings to prevent the sound of yourself coming through the speakers. Here are some steps you can follow to potentially resolve this: 1. Access Sound Settings: - Right-click on the sound icon in the system tray and select "Recording devices." - Locate your microphone device, right-click on it, and select "Properties." 2. Adjust Microphone Properties: - In the "Levels" tab, you should see a Microphone Boost or similar setting that you can adjust. - Reduce the microphone boost level to prevent the sound from...

Adjust Microphone Properties: - In the "Levels" tab, you should see a Microphone Boost or similar setting that you can adjust. - Reduce the microphone boost level to prevent the sound from amplifying too much. You may need to experiment with different levels to find the right balance. 3. Configure Ventrilo: - In the Ventrilo settings, check if there is an option to control microphone input levels. - Adjust the microphone sensitivity within Ventrilo to fine-tune how it picks up your voice. 4. Disable Mic Playback: - Make sure that you have disabled microphone playback to prevent hearing yourself through the speakers. - This can usually be found in the microphone properties under the "Listen" tab. Ensure that the "Listen to this device" option is unchecked. By following these steps, you should be able to adjust the microphone settings on your Creative XtremeGamer sound card and within Ventrilo to reduce the unwanted noise and feedback issues you are experiencing. If you continue to encounter problems, feel free to provide more details, and we can explore further solutions.
