The "Universal" Drivers for Samsung monochrome laser printers (Vista 64 compatible) do not install on Windows 7 because it detects the OS as "not supported".

Anyone here tried installing it on Vista 64, then copying over the drivers and see if it works on Windows 7 ?

Or, alternatively, how to patch the install program to ignore the OS?

Solution
When encountering compatibility issues with drivers meant for a different operating system, there are a few potential workarounds you can try to make them work on your current system such as Windows 7. Here are some steps you could take to address this issue:

Method 1: Compatibility Mode

  1. Compatibility Mode: You can try installing the Vista 64 drivers on Windows 7 using the compatibility mode feature. Here's how:
    • Right-click on the driver installation file.
    • Select "Properties."
    • Go to the "Compatibility" tab.
    • Check the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows Vista" from the dropdown.
    • Apply the changes and try running the installer again.

[]Manual Installation: If the above method doesn't work, you can try manually installing the drivers.
    • Extract the driver files from the installer.
    • Go to Device Manager.
    • Right-click on the device that needs the driver.
    • Select "Update Driver Software."
    • Choose "Browse my computer for driver software" and navigate to the folder where the driver files are located.

      Method 3: Modifying Installer

    [
]Modifying Installer: You can try modifying the installer to bypass the OS check. This involves editing the installation executable or configuration files. However, this method requires technical expertise and may not always be successful.

    Further Steps

If you decide to modify the installer, you can try using tools like Orca (a database table editor for creating and editing Windows Installer packages) to edit the MSI file or other tools like Resource Hacker to modify the binary of the installer. Before attempting any modification, it's recommended to create a backup of your system or the installer file to avoid any potential issues. You can give these methods a try and see if they help you get the Samsung monochrome laser printer drivers installed on Windows 7.
