Windows Vista Service Pack Update

I'm trying to install O.B.S. (Open Bradcasting Software), but it requires Service Pack 2.
I tried updating to Service Pack1, since I just re-installed Windows on my computer.
It goes as far as to download and "install" it, but doesn't ask to restart the computer. And when I do restart the computer, and check for updates, ittells me that the only update available is SP1.
THoughts as to what's wrong with it?

Which version of Windows are you using? How are you reinstalling it (install disk, recovery partition etc).

32 bit Vista Home basic
AS for re-installation, I don't remeber the name of the partition, but I remember formatting drive C and installing it on there.
I hope that answers your questions, sorry, n00b here
