Windows 7 Shared printer won't print on either of 2 enabled laptops

Printer (HP Officejet 6200) is wired to Vista Home Basic (2007 w/ SP2), printer sharing enabled via Netgear router. Laptop-1 (Win 7 Home Premium, 2009, w/SP1) and Laptop-2 (Vista Home Premium, 2007, w/ SP2) "see" printer via network.

When I print anything Print Manager instantly reports "Error Printing". I am clueless as to troubleshoot.

Have run Printer Troubleshoot app. - No help.
Have spent too much time trying to fix.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Not sure what method you have used so far to get the printer to work but you can try this and see if it helps.
First make sure to delete any previous problematic installations on the two client computers of the shared printer, then;
Make sure you have the appropriate drivers available and extracted on the client computers for the installed OS and architecture (32 or 64 bit).
Open Devices and Printers
Select add printer near the top menu bar
Select add local printer
Choose Create a new port and local port from drop down arrow Click Next
In the enter a port name do one of the following
1. \\MachineNameHostingPrinter\Printer'sShareName or
2. \\ipaddressOfMachineHostingPrinter\Printer'sShareName
In the install printer driver dialog box do one of the following
1. In the left panel select your printer manufacturer and in the right panel select your printer model (to use Win7 native drivers) or
2. Select the have disk button and direct the install process to the folder where you have download and extracted the Win 7 drivers for your printer.

Randy
