Windows 10 Slow boot and start-up time

Hello, I'm new here I just wanted to ask for some help and assistance over the issues I've faced with my laptop.
Specs:

Processor: Intel Core i5-6220U
Ram: 8gb

I've performed:
clean boot
disabled all start-up programs
run sfc /scannow

unfortunately my laptops boots up slow.

Could you tell us the specs of your laptop: brand, model, type of harddisk, etc.

Have you tried starting up your laptop in save mode? If so, how did it boot?

Is this a new problem?

Is this an upgrade form an earlier version of Windows?

Just to add to Henk's fine post, if you have a lot of installed applications these will slow the system system down even if they don't have a start up in Task Manager. Pop into your add and remove programs section and if there's anything your not using or have finished with then remove it.

File scans
Right click on the Start menu icon and from the revealed list choose 'admin command prompt'. Type:
sfc /scannow
press enter and await results

In the same command prompt and after the above scan has finished type:
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
Press enter and await results (longer this time).

If the first scan found files it could not repair but the second scan is successful, run the first scan again using the same command prompt box and this time it should repair the files found.

Advanced Disk Cleaner.
Open up an admin command prompt and type:

cleanmgr /sageset:1

Press enter

You'll see a disk clean box appear with lot's more check boxes than the usual Disk clean app. You can click most of these apart from ones which if checked will remove the option to uninstall updates and the like. Luckily they are easy to spot and once you've made your selection click ok. Every time you want to change the parameters within Disk Clean then you must go through this initial set up.

Once you have it set up then to get the advanced disk cleaner to run is almost the same as setting it up. So once again in an admin command prompt, type:

cleanmgr /sagerun:1

Press enter and the app will cycle through

(You can use the above Disk clean to remove Windows.old folders, left over from upgrades )

Hi

I also does makes a difference if your hard drive is fragmented unless it is an SSD, and using CCleaner regularly to clean out the junk helps too.

You can turn off many things that load at startup, that aren't really nessessary.

You can do that with CCleaner too

You could have a bad driver that Windows spends time searching for, or some failing component.

But the best bet is do every thing and see if it works, sometimes it is several things working together.

My computer slows to crawl if I run Google Chrome, I've never been able to figure out why.

I just had to stop using it, it worked fine for years.

Re install windows. Clean install. That's your best bet. And use ssd it will help you boot os without blinking.

I would have probably done this by now too although I have everything backed up so as soon as the install is finished I can apply drivers (of which I have a copy of the latest versions again backed up) and personal files as well as folders

I also tried to boot to safe mode I think what you are trying to say and the result is similar. Dark screen which stays for about 10 seconds before the login screen appears the logging in for about 15 seconds. It is a new problem and it is a preinstalled Windows 10 OS with Anniversary Update 1607.

I've done the sfc /scannow and i did it again like in the first attempt I did with the sfc it had a same result "no integrity violations". As what you have suggested I did the command "dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth". It says "restore complete successfully". I tried to test it and I had to restart my laptop and the result was kinda similar just a slight change in boot-up maybe like 2 or 3 seconds added time from the original boot-up time. And I did your disk clean-up thing I only gotten worst.

Your laptop might be trying to load updates, is your laptop up to date? Are some updates pending, or being repeated over and over again?
(I see Windows 10 Home, version 1607 build 14393.693)

Has it anything to do with wireless or cabled network?
Is it trying to connect to some network device like a NAS?

Do you see, during the black screen periods, any activity on the disk active led?

Could you download and install the Seatools for Windows from the seagate.com support pages and test your HD. Run the non destructive tests and see if any errors are detected.

This are some basic things I would check / do.
