Windows 7 Start menu problem

Okay so I was gone for a couple of days and my sister used my computer. Before I left it was perfectly fine, now when I click to open the start menu it opens but when I move my mouse to go and click on let's say the computer tab, the whol menu disappears. This keeps happening again and again. I have no idea what is wrong.

I suppose you didn't do the cute trick of making a system restore point and a back-up just before you logged off before your absence? (something I always do before leaving my pc in the hands of mere mortals!).
