Windows 7 System spontaneously reboots, Kernel-Power, Event ID 41, Task Category (63)

Computer restarts usually during game play. recently replaced video card, memory and cpu fan. cleaned well no dust bunnies inside.. here is error log and some details of my computer:. It has restarted playing Call of Duty, Magicka, League of Legends, or Watching a movie. When It did it more often I noticed that the cpu fan was really dirty after cleaning it then it did it less often. I got a new huge cpu fan which as you can tell below keeps my temps cool it went from idle 45C to 25C. But still restarts. especially on Magicka every about 30-45 minutes.

One way to check for a temp problem is open the case and leave an external fan on the system. If this extends the time or stops reboots, you may have a clue.

Do you have your system set to make mini-dump files? If you are getting Blue Screens, you might want to go to the BSOD forum and check out the stickies to show how to set this up. But basically you go into System Properties-Advanced-Startup and Recovery and use settings to select small dump file.

You can set Task Manager up to look at Process Numbers and Number of Threads. In your post, it mentions Process ID 4, which may be a system process, but it only shows the number of threads and not the Thread ID. There is software available that can give more information if you feel it is necessary.

But overall, if it isn't the heat, something is causing a conflict it should not. A dump file might help, but doesn't always point to an exact cause. If you are using any older drivers, you might check to see if you can update. If it seems to be one specific program that would help, and remember if you do not do cold boots, there could be something hanging around that actually causes the problem.

Look in MSinfo32.exe to see if any problem devices show up, and check the Event Viewer to see if any persistent Errors or Warnings are present. Sometime it is very help to know the time of day when something happens, so you can compare with the logs.

Is there anything different than normal about your system? Any overclocking or special software?

Will try the case off thing later today and reply by tonight.. there is no custom overclocking no other errors then when it restart and I attached the dmp files. there is also no bsod it just restarts in the middle of a game.

My suggestion is update that USB Audio device driver, and/or plug it into a powered hub if possible?

Oh it seems to be an integrated Windows Driver, my bad.. most likely crashed due to a USB Audio device however, on a side note Service Pack 1 has version 6.1.7601.17586 of this file, and you have 6.1.7600.16385. Consider applying the service pack :) Someone here might be able to give you a more indepth analysis of what other driver might really be causing the issue, I'm not so sure the Microsoft driver is.. it's usually a 3rd party driver.

Hi KSnKing and Welcome to the Forum.

STOP 0x00000050: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
Usual causes:
Defective hardware (particularly memory - but not just RAM), Faulty system service, Antivirus, Device driver, NTFS corruption, BIOS

Your latest dump file lists win32k.sys as the probable cause. This is a Windows System file and for it to be the cause of your crash is highly unlikely.
Old and incompatible drivers can and do cause issues with Windows 7, often giving false error codes.

As a Priority:

If after updating the listed drivers blue screens continue:

AVG is known to be a cause of BSOD's on Windows 7 systems. Suggest that you uninstall it. Download the correct AVG Remover for your system (32 or 64 bit).
If you have AVG ID protection installed, download the AVGID Protection Remover from the above link as well (it wouldn't hurt to download and run it anyway). Download Link Removed due to 404 Error as AVG's replacement. Re-boot to Safe Mode. In Safe Mode run the AVG Removal tools. Re-boot to normal mode and install MSE. Make sure your Windows firewall is enabled!

Run Memtest86+ overnight, after your computer has been off for about an hour or two so it has a cold start. Let it run for at least 7 passes / 6-8 hours. If errors appear before that you can stop that particular test.
Note!! Any time Memtest86+ reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad Mobo slot. Test RAM sticks individually. When you find a good one then test it in all slots. Post back with the results.

If you get further problems with blue screens, attach your new dump files and details and we'll move on from there.

HTH.

I re-read the inital post and it states he has SP1, but some of his core driver files versions according to 'lm n t' do not match what my 7 SP1 system does, not sure why?

Agreed 100%. But until the Gaffer (cybercore) has checked out his ram.... I'm a bit dubious about it but without anything to see, AND being no expert on it!! :)

I often use

!for_each_module .echo @#ModuleName fver = @#FileVersion pver = @#ProductVersion

To look at driver versions and some of his just look.. well Pre SP1.. I dunno of course I am tired and could be looking at the output wrong too ;)

Curious !! The SP1 drivers are Nov 20(?) 2010, or thereabouts

Grufty - Welcome to the Forum...
You are well advised to start a new thread of your own rather than tagging on to an older one.

FYI - If you are getting BSOD's we need the DMP files to analyse.
In your new thread please let us know if you require help in this area.

Hey guys... i'm back again. Well i'm following on my original post because i'm still having the issue. It seemed to stop but as i play newer games it started to do it again. I have got a new video card, new ram, new case, new fan as i mentioned before... but still randomly restarts. If anyone can help out i would appreciate it.

I had this same problem, I have a crucial m4 ssd as my primary disk, I updated the firmware from 09 to OOF and it completely fixed it.
