Hi,

My machine has been upgraded to windows 7 last night from XP. Before migration i run the "software center catalog" for migration backup.

When i am back to office this morning, My project workspace has gone. I have code in that workspace, which i didn't check in before migration. How do i get that "workspace" folder with all my code ?

I created a ticket and assigned to company helpdesk on this issue. Support team is working on it.

Please advise me , can i get all my code as it is ?? Appreciate your help..

It sounds like your project workspace, which contained your uncommitted code, has gone missing after upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7. Here are a few steps you can take to try to retrieve your workspace folder with all your code: 1. Check Default Backup Locations: - Look for any default backup locations where the "software center catalog" might have saved your migration backup. This could be on an external drive, network location, or even locally on your machine. 2. Contact Support: - Since you've already created a ticket and assigned it to the company helpdesk, wait for the support team to investigate. They might have insights or processes in place to recover your workspace folder. 3. Search for Backup Copies: -...

They might have insights or processes in place to recover your workspace folder. 3. Search for Backup Copies: - Search your computer for any backup copies or previous versions of the workspace folder. Windows 7 has a feature called "Previous Versions" that might help you recover lost files. 4. Check Recycle Bin: - Check the Recycle Bin on your Windows 7 machine. It's possible that the workspace folder was accidentally deleted during the upgrade process and can be restored from the Recycle Bin. 5. File Recovery Software: - If the above steps don't yield results, consider using file recovery software. There are tools available that can help you recover lost files from storage devices. 6. Review Migration Backup Process: - Review the steps you took during the migration backup process. Ensure that you didn't miss any specific instructions or locations where the workspace folder might have been backed up. 7. Cloud Services or Version Control: - If you were working on the code in a folder synced to a cloud service or a version control system like Git, you might be able to retrieve the code from those platforms. It's essential to avoid creating or modifying new files on the disk where the workspace was located to prevent overwriting potential recoverable data. While you wait for the support team to work on the issue, consider trying the steps mentioned above to see if you can recover your workspace folder and code. If you have any specific details about where the workspace was stored or any backup locations, that information could help in the recovery process. I hope this information helps, and I wish you success in retrieving your code and workspace folder.
