Hey guys!
Ill try to make this as short and as sweet as i can for everyone. I recently just installed w7 32bit from XP, by using the upgrade version of w7, but im trying to make it so i can run w7 64bit version, so I purchased an OEM w7 64bit. My question is, is this even possible to do? Install the OEM w7 64bit over the upgraded 32bit? Ive read that i have to do a clean install, but when i boot from the OEM cd, it says "Windows is loading files..." and then it goes to the windows home screen and then just stops there. Nothing is being loaded, but i can still move my cursor freely. Any suggestions on what i should/could do to get w7 64bit up and running? Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

That is correct. You cannot upgrade any Windows Operating System from 32 bit to 64 bit (or vice versa) without performing a clean install.Ive read that i have to do a clean install,
I would strongly suggest taking whatever steps possible to secure your critical data (email, music, documents, images, etc.,) either by creating a system image using the built in Windows 7 utility or any of a number of third party imaging software products, to an external medium (USB Hard drive) and test and verify it. At minimum at least a files and folders backup of that data.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have everything i needed saved on a flash drive. The problem im having is when i boot up the 64 bit from cd/dvd drive, it hangs right after it says "Windows is loading files..." Even when i boot up the upgrade version of the 32 bit cd it does the same thing. I have no idea where to even begin to troubleshoot this problem. Was curious if anybody has had encountered this problem before. Any suggestions?
