And then I have to disconnect from that network, (BT Openzone..) and manually re- connect to my own netgear wireless connection..

I unticked the three boxes for the BT openzone connection and applied/saved those settings in the wireless manager and upon a reboot or disconnection they are ticked again!! - Is this a bug?

BTW it's not my PC it's my brother's and it's used in his small business other devices are: 2 laptops wirelessly connected to the Netgear router, a desktop pc running W2000 (Lanned to the router..) and a wireless printer..

All wireless devices use WPA2..

Hoping someone can help me stop the thing connecting to a open (Non secure..) device that is broadcasting locally..?

Solution
It seems like your brother's computer is automatically reconnecting to the BT Openzone network despite your attempts to disconnect and uncheck the boxes for that network. This behavior could be due to a few reasons, but before we delve into potential solutions, it's essential to ensure that the settings are correctly saved when you untick the boxes for the BT Openzone network. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Forget the Network:
    • You can try forgetting the BT Openzone network completely from the list of saved networks on the computer. This should ensure that the system does not automatically connect to it.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Forget the Network:
    • You can try forgetting the BT Openzone network completely from the list of saved networks on the computer. This should ensure that the system does not automatically connect to it.
    []Network Priority:
    • Check the network priority list in the settings. Make sure that your brother's Netgear wireless network is set as the highest priority so that it is the preferred network for connection.
    [
    ]Network Profiles:
    • Verify the saved network profiles on the computer. If there are multiple profiles for the same network, it can sometimes cause connection issues. Delete any redundant profiles.
    []Driver Update:
    • Ensure that the wireless network adapter drivers on the computer are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause connectivity issues.
    [
    ]Network Settings:
    • Double-check the network settings to ensure that they are saved correctly after unchecking the boxes for the BT Openzone network. Save the settings and restart the computer to see if the changes persist.
  2. Security Settings:
    • Confirm that the security settings (like WPA2) are properly configured for your brother's Netgear wireless network.

      Resolving the Issue:

If the issue persists even after following the troubleshooting steps, you might need to investigate further:
    • Network Management Software: Check if there is any third-party network management software installed on the computer that could be managing the network connections and causing this behavior.
    • Windows Updates: Ensure that the system is up to date with the latest Windows updates. Sometimes, system updates can address connectivity issues. By following these steps and checking the mentioned aspects, you should be able to prevent the computer from automatically connecting to the BT Openzone network and ensure a stable connection to your brother's Netgear wireless network. If the issue continues, feel free to provide more details for further assistance.
