I get this error message when I start up my
computer.
It's a Gateway Laptop model NE56R34u and it originally came with Windows 8 but I had a friend wipe that and install Windows 7. I did this because its for my mom and I thought 8 was going to be a little tough for her. So now it has Windows 7 on it.
Any idea what this could be? Also for some reason the trackpad won't work correctly (the scroll part on the right doesn't work) and I'm wondering if these are related.
It seems to be a guitar program, or such. It came with the original pack. Obviously your friend didn't manage to clear it out, it would need a zero format. A mere re-install won't do, as it leaves residues.
I don't think it's anything dangerous, but annoying, yes. I would suggest to zero format / non-part > re-part the disk, and then install Windows. That can be done by Gparted: http://gparted.org/
Alvarez to me looks to be the User Name in the path. The problem looks to be Conduit further along in the path, which is a real pain to get rid of.
My suggestion would be to back up all her critical data (from the looks of the desktop it looks like she has some data scatter here and there).
Then use the recovery process for that specific computer to perform a factory fresh recovery (assuming your friend didn't wipe the hard drive).
And when windows 8 is back and the system is up and running.... throw Classic Shell on there from here http://www.classicshell.net/
and she should be good to go, the look and feel is going to be very similar to what she's been using with Windows 7.
Many programs use "conduit" in the appdata path, as well as other locations. Don't be so fast to get rid of everything with "conduit" in the path or legit software will get messed up.
