Hello,

I recently build and installed a new system. The problem I am facing (which I would bet started only after I installed some drivers..) is that after I type my password in the login screen, I have to wait for an unexplicable amount of time (given the specs of the machine and the fact my desktop is almost empty!)

What I tried:

- msconfig : perform minimal start with only needed services
- cleanup some SoundCard app stuff from the startup
- remove the ethernet cable (in case it was a DHCP problem)
- remove the external usb WD My Passport drive
- search through the event viewer. (maybe something to see there)

Some info to help you out.

System specs:

It seems like you're experiencing a delay after entering your password at the login screen on your newly built system. This delay could be related to various factors, including drivers. Here are some steps and considerations based on the information you provided:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Disable Unnecessary Services: You mentioned using msconfig to perform a minimal start with only needed services. You might want to ensure that there are no unnecessary services running at startup.
  2. Startup Programs: Check the startup programs in Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and disable any unnecessary programs that might be causing delays.

  3. Driver Issues: Verify if all drivers are up to date, especially for components like the motherboard, graphics card, and network adapter.
  4. Check Windows Update: Ensure that Windows is up to date with the latest patches and updates. Sometimes, updates can resolve performance issues.
  5. Event Viewer: Review the Event Viewer logs for any errors or warnings that might provide clues about what's causing the delay.
  6. System Cleanup: Perform system cleanup to remove temporary files and unnecessary data that might be impacting performance.
  7. Check Disk Health: Verify the health of your SSD and other drives using tools like CrystalDiskInfo to ensure there are no issues with your storage drives.

    Service Running at Every Boot:

Regarding the WinRing0_1_2_0 service running at every boot, this service is likely related to hardware monitoring or overclocking utilities. It's a kernel mode driver and typically starts on-demand. It's not unusual for such services to run at boot if they are associated with hardware monitoring tools or specific hardware components. Ensure that this service is legitimate and comes from a trusted source. If it's part of a utility you installed for monitoring or overclocking purposes, its presence should be fine. However, if you don't recognize it or suspect it's causing issues, you might want to investigate further or consider disabling it to see if it improves boot times. By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot the delays you're experiencing after entering your password at the login screen. If you encounter any specific errors or warnings in the Event Viewer logs, those details can provide more targeted solutions for resolving the delay.
