i'm on the hunt for some wifi speakers for our house which will play music from my computer (win7 etc).

- wifi with a reasonably easy to connect USB dongle
- aux in
- and its a bonus if they or it has a built in battery
have looked at the creative t20w and the veho mimi so far with the mimi being closet match.

you know of any others?
will the wifi interfere with my wifi internet?
should play ANY audio coming from my computer, not just itunes for example.

thanks!

When looking for WiFi speakers that can play music from your computer running Windows 7, there are a few considerations to keep in mind. Here are some options and answers to your questions:

WiFi Speakers Recommendations:

  1. Bose SoundLink Revolve: This portable WiFi speaker offers a 360-degree sound, an auxiliary input, and a built-in battery for added portability.
  2. Sonos Move: While slightly on the higher end, Sonos Move is a versatile option with WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, an auxiliary input, and a long-lasting battery.
  3. Harman Kardon Citation 100: This speaker provides WiFi streaming, an auxiliary input, and a rechargeable battery for convenience.

    Interference Concerns:

    Interference Concerns:

    • In general, WiFi speakers should not interfere with your home WiFi network, especially if they operate on different frequency bands (5GHz for WiFi networks and 2.4GHz or 5GHz for speakers). However, if you experience interference, you may need to adjust the channels or positions of your devices.

      Audio Compatibility:

    • WiFi speakers should be able to play any audio coming from your computer, not restricted to specific music applications like iTunes. They essentially act like any other audio output device connected to your computer. When setting up your WiFi speakers with a USB dongle, ensure that the drivers are compatible with Windows 7, as some newer speakers may not offer official support for older operating systems. If you have any specific brands or models in mind, I can provide more detailed information on their compatibility and features. Let me know if you need further assistance!
