My computer keeps crashing with a blue screen. It is running Win7 Pro 64-bit upgraded from Visita.
Attached is the mini-dump. Does it tell what is causing the crash? Thanks.

Looks like it may be a problem with your network adapter driver. Check the manufacturer's website for a Windows 7 compatible driver. You've also got an old version of secdrv.sys (seems to be related to something from MacroVision Safe Disck Copy Protection) I don't know if it's a hold over from the upgrade or not. Did you actually do an upgrade from Vista or did you choose to do a custom clean install? Anyway here's the info from the dump, hope this helps

Hello trouble

Thanks for your prompt response. Let me update the driver. See if it solves this problem.

This is a new PC. I have Win7Pro upgrade. So I installed Visita first, then upgraded to Win 7 Pro. Have only a few applications installed. No game whatsoever. No idea where secdrv.sys came from.

I think Trouble is right on in his analysis of the network adapter.

Another point.

Most of us all agree that a "clean" stall is the way to go.

An upgrade leaves useless files on your system and can cause conflicts (as you are experiencing now).

Save all your Documents, Pictures, Music, Videos, etc to a flash drive.

Be aware, you will have to re-install all your 3rd party programs.

I found out e1k62x64.sys is the Intel network card device driver. I downloaded the latest one from Intel. Installed it. But it is till crashing the same way. What else can I do?

Reghakr, what do you mean by "clean" install?

This is a new computer. I purchased the Win7 upgrade, because I have Vista. I installed Vista then immediately installed Win7 without installing any application. Even at this point I hardly have any application installed and any valuable data file on it.

Your help is appreciated.

It doesn't matter if the Windows purchase was an upgrade, you simply choose the first box rather than the one below which is for upgrading.

This is on the initial Windows setup screen, I believe the 3rd screen.

This will format the new partition for Windows 7 and delete all those unnecessary files.

OK. Now I understand what do you mean by "clean" install. My son installed it for me. So I really don't know if he selected clean installed or not.

Now, what's the next step? Should I reformat C: drive and start it all over again. I don't have any data files there. Nothing to loose. But my Win7 is already activated. How to activated again?

To do a clean install click on custom install. As reghakr said click on format. As far as activation goes just reenter your activation code when asked for it.

this is a big problem for me too, e1k62x64.sys causing BSOD
Dell have replaced my motherboard, memory, hdd and its had a full rebuild
the system always BSODs when using the LAN card
the system is a DELL E6410 - £1300 system an BSOD every other day
Dell blame 3rd party software but we have 100 other Dell pc's in our company without this problem... I am lost for suggestions :(

This is related to your Intel NIC driver.

I would get the correct make and model and search for a new driver.

I have isolated the problem to some software. CONNECTIFY
this was causing the BSOD
since removing the problem has not happened.
CONNECTIFY monitors all LAN traffic even when deactivated.
only solution was to UNINSTALL

regards

UPDATE - the problem is still here :(
its definately related to the LAN driver e1k62x64.sys
using the wifi I never get the BSOD, only on LAN...

Where you able to fix your problem I am having the same issue Dell E6410 had motherboard replaced tried the newest lan drivers from Dell and Intell blue screens anytime I'm transfering files and performing another network related task.

Hi and welcome.

Please create a new thread and post the crash dumps. They're in C:\Windows\Minidump

Copy the files in there to any other folder. Then zip them and attach the zip to the post, while making the thread in the bsod section.

as my system was a new e6410 and dell couldnt fix it, they replaced the whole laptop with a brand new one.
the new one has been good for over a month now.
same software setup too...

Glad Dell did good for you, just remember to backup in case.

I encountered this exact problem with a Latitude E6410 laptop with Windows 7 64 Bit OS. I kept getting the BSOD with complaints on the e1k62x64.sys.

I upgraded my driver for the Intel(R) 82577LM Gigabit Network Connection to 11.8.75.0 which appears to have resolved the problem.

I have the same issue on the same model. :-(

Did you update the LAN driver ?

Dear All,

I have the same problem with a Dell E4310.
BSOD appears during heavy communication with my Synology DS211j NAS.

Just updated the driver to 11.10.86.0, let's see if this helps.

Mike
