How do I find out how many running processes I have?

Update: Task Manager says 84 Background processes and 88 Windows processes. But some other guys were talking about the number of running services vs the number of services. That's what I'm having trouble finding.

Update 2: Never mind. I figured it out.

Ok I don't know how I should feel about this. When I checked this morning I found I have 91 background processes and 89 Windows processes. Then after a reboot it shows 68 background and 97 Windows. Yall have been talking about having far less than I have. Should I consider this to be a problem even though my computer seems to be running fine?

I bought this gaming laptop even though I'm no gamer. I just wanted to finally have all the bad-ass hardware that I never had. I enjoy seeing this thing running so fast. But maybe I could speed it up even a little more by shutting off a few processes. But I don't know which ones I don't need and how to make sure they don't restart. Or maybe I shouldn't worry about it. I don't know which way to go with this.

It's not a problem you just have different software running than us. Mine goes up and down depending on activity so you shouldn't worry about it.

Cool, thanks. I didn't really think it was a problem. That's why we have computers with quad core processors and 8 Gb ram these days huh? I remember thinking I had something way cool when I had a 1.7 Ghz processor, 256 Mb ram and a 20 Gb hard-drive. I also remember how slow it was.

I also remember my first computer. It had a 64 Mhz 4-86 processor 16 Mb ram and a 536 Mb hard-drive. It had a Turbo Boost switch that boosted the processor from 16 mhz to 64. The "A" drive was a 5 1/4" floppy drive and the "B" drive was a 3 1/2".

But when I married my first wife she had bought her oldest son a Commodore 64 computer that she paid $2400.00 for. Everything it did had to run from a 5 1/4" floppy.

Quad core, not sure I could go back to quad. ;)

Couldn't resist.

I'd do it too.

It's finally here for everyone although it's a progressive update. This means not everyone get's it at once. Creators will roll out over the coming days and if you'd like a copy earlier follow the advice given below in the blog:

Beam game broadcasting

With the Creators Update, built-in game streaming with Beam is the easiest and most interactive way to stream your gameplay on Windows 10. Pressing Windows key + G while playing your game will bring up the Game bar, where you’ll find we’ve added a broadcast icon to launch Beam – no extra software required.

New gaming section in System Settings

Inside the main Windows System Settings, a new section has been added: Gaming, identified with the Xbox logo. This new section unifies your Windows 10 gaming settings in one place. In the Creators Update, there are four settings options: Game bar, GameDVR, broadcasting, and Game Mode. Game Mode may be easily turned on and off for specific games using the Game bar (Windows key + G).

Game Mode

With Game Mode, it’s our goal to provide a better and more consistent gaming experience on Windows 10, by dedicating more system resources to your game. Game Mode also works for both Win32 and UWP games. To enable Game Mode while playing a game, pull up the Game bar (Windows key + G) and click on the Settings button to opt the running game into using Game Mode. The Creators Update is just the first milestone in our commitment to Game Mode and Windows 10 performance improvements for PC gaming.

More games supported by Game bar

In the Windows 10 Creators Update, we’ve continued to expand support for Windows Game bar in full-screen mode to more than 80 of the most popular PC games. You can also now manage this feature in the new Gaming section of Windows Settings. Look for “Game bar,” and make sure the “Show Game bar when I play full-screen games Microsoft has verified” setting is checked. I got the insider preview version and it borqed my webcam. to this day my system doesn't recognize it. So I reinstalled and am NOT using insider previews and am on build 15063.138. I noticed while on the preview release ring, the safe public like ring that I got the fast ring 15063.14 and it was messed up. it might have damaged my camera because BEFORE the update, my system always recognized my webcam. So I've shot this issue off to MS so I'll buy one of those USB external webcams for my videos.

A number of issues have been reported although not noticed any myself until I tried to use DISM (restorehealth). It couldn't find the source even after making changes to the settings.
I did a little searching and it does appear to be a bug:

Has anyone else seen this issue?

Here's what I got. I have to rely on yall to tell me what it means though. I used the upgrade assistant to do the upgrade. I noticed in the provided link that an ISO was used to install the upgrade. I don't know if that means a disk was burned to use for it or not.

Also I don't know if there is a problem with mine.

Try restorehealth and not scanhealth. Mine fails on restore

Yup it has to be on 'Restorehealth'.

Yup. It fails. Should I try to specify the location?

It still won't work Stuey, I already tried it. Probably better off waiting on an update from the powers that be..

Well it's a good thing I'm happy with the way everything is running then, huh?
