Key New Features and Changes​

Passwordless Improvements​

• 1Password Integration: You can now use 1Password as a passkey provider with Windows 11.
• Setup:
• Install 1Password Beta for Windows.
• Enable the plugin in Settings > Passkeys > Advanced options.
• Complete Windows Hello verification.
• Use or save passkeys with 1Password.
• For Developers: There’s a new API for integrating credential managers (More info here).

General​

• Versioning Updated: Dev Channel now shows version 25H2 in Settings > System > About (and winver), indicating this will be the 2025 annual feature update.

Voice access​

• Japanese temporarily disabled for voice access while bugs are fixed.

Settings​

• Browser Default Changes (EEA region): When you set a new default browser, it will also be pinned to the Taskbar and Start menu (optional).

Fixes​

Gradual Rollout with Toggle ON:​

• File Explorer: Fixed occasional crashes at Home, and missing thumbnails in Favorites.
• Start Menu: Fixed duplicate entries and folder animation issues.
• Typing: Fixed ctfmon.exe crash impacting typing.
• Lock Screen: Fixed memory leak with slideshow and improved dialog scaling.

For Everyone in Dev Channel:​

• Boot Sound: Fixed Windows Vista boot sound playing instead of Windows 11’s.
• File Explorer: View settings and desktop icons now persist after changes.

Known Issues​

• General:
• Some users get a rollback and error 0x80070005 during install—try fixing via Settings > System > Recovery > “Fix issues using Windows Update”.
• Start Menu:
• Touch does not reliably work for new Start Menu (e.g. swipe up broken).
• Drag and drop: Limited from "All" to "Pinned".
• Xbox Controllers:
• Bluetooth connection may cause a bugcheck (blue screen). To resolve: Go to Device Manager > View by driver > Locate "oemXXX.inf (XboxGameControllerDriver.inf)" and uninstall.
• Click to Do (Preview):
• On AMD/Intel Copilot+ PCs, first text actions may take a long time post-update.
• File Explorer - AI Actions:
• Narrator scan mode has issues with AI summary for 365 files and lists (workaround: Caps + Right).
• Widgets:
• Pinning in new Widgets board reverts to previous experience until support is finalized.

Insider Program Reminders​

• Dev Channel builds are based on Windows 11 version 24H2, with some features rolling out gradually using Controlled Feature Rollout technology.
• Features shown in these builds might never ship publicly or might appear in other channels first.
• Accessibility features may not be fully functional with some previews.
