Windows 7 Windows 7 applications hang quiet frequently

I have bought a Dell studio 15 very recently pre-installed with windows 7. Generally laptop is working fine but I have observed problems with Windows media player. It hags quiet frequently and after that no other media application will run (e.g. winamp, VLC etc).

I am also facing problems with skype on my new laptop. It hangs every now and then.

Can anybody throw some light on these

Hello Was yhis a "clean" uinsatll or an upgrade?

Do you gave a reyor poiny yo go back to?

If a restore point cannot take you back before the problem began, then do a Repair Install from the desktop.

If the issues arise again, study the Event Log>Administrative view for clues. Also generate a system health report by clicking trhough the WEI link to Advanced diagnostic tools.

I would go to Start > run, and uncheck everything except your anti-virus as Dell loads tons of crap in msconfig
