Hello Alex, It sounds like you may be experiencing network latency or interference issues with the wireless adapter you installed. Here are a few steps you can take to try and troubleshoot and resolve the lagging issue on your computer: 1. Check Wireless Signal Strength: - Ensure that the wireless signal strength is strong where you are using the computer. Weak signals can cause intermittent lag. - You can check the signal strength in the taskbar or through your wireless adapter's utility. 2. Update Wireless Adapter Drivers: - Make sure you have the latest drivers for your Linksys WMP600N adapter. Hello Alex, It sounds like you may be experiencing network latency or interference issues with the wireless adapter you installed. Here are a few steps you can take to try and troubleshoot and resolve the lagging issue on your computer: 1. Weak signals can cause intermittent lag. - You can check the signal strength in the taskbar or through your wireless adapter's utility. 2. Update Wireless Adapter Drivers: - Make sure you have the latest drivers for your Linksys WMP600N adapter. Outdated drivers can cause performance issues. - Visit the Linksys website to download and install the latest drivers for your adapter. 3. Check for Interference: - Verify that there are no other devices causing interference with the wireless signal. Other electronics or devices operating on the same frequency can disrupt the connection. - Try moving other devices away from the router or changing the wireless channel on your router. 4. Reset Router: - Sometimes resetting your router can help resolve connectivity issues. Power cycle your router by turning it off, waiting for a few minutes, and then turning it back on. 5. Disable Unnecessary Programs: - Make sure that there are no background programs consuming excessive resources on your computer. Check the Task Manager for any resource-intensive applications. 6. Check for Malware: - Run a full antivirus scan on your computer to check for any malware that might be affecting the performance. 7. Monitor Resource Usage: - Use Task Manager to monitor CPU, memory, disk, and network usage. This can help identify if any resource is being maxed out during the lag spikes. 8. Update System and Graphics Drivers: - Ensure that your operating system and graphics drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can also cause performance issues. If after trying these steps the issue persists, please provide more information about any error messages you receive or any other relevant details. Additional information about your network setup at the school (such as the type of wireless network, router model, etc.) could also be helpful in diagnosing the problem further. Let me know how it goes or if you need further assistance!
