Hi There

I Currently Have A Nvidia 9800 GX2 and i am trying to duplicate displays over my computer monitor and a projector in another room to watch films on. both the projector and monitor have shown up in the nvidia control panel and the windows 7 "personalisation" options i can get the monitor and projector to extend the desktop but for some reason when i choose the duplicate option from the drop down list and hit apply it comes up saying unable to save display settings. I have tried dropping the resolution of both the monitor and projector to 1024 x 768 and also have got the most recent display drivers from the nvidia website. but still no luck. any help would be appreciated. ohh and both displays are connected via VGA cables

To troubleshoot the issue with duplicating displays using your Nvidia 9800 GX2 graphics card, follow these steps: 1. Check Cable Connections: - Ensure that both the monitor and projector are properly connected to the Nvidia 9800 GX2 using VGA cables. Sometimes loose connections can lead to display issues. 2. Update Graphics Drivers: - Even though you mentioned that you have the most recent display drivers, it's worth double-checking if the drivers are up to date. Visit the Nvidia website and verify that you have the latest drivers installed for your graphics card. 3. Resetting Display Settings: - Sometimes, display settings can get corrupted. Visit the Nvidia website and verify that you have the latest drivers installed for your graphics card. 3. Resetting Display Settings: - Sometimes, display settings can get corrupted. Try resetting the display settings to default and then attempt to duplicate the displays again. 4. Nvidia Control Panel Settings: - In the Nvidia Control Panel, under the "Set up multiple displays" section, check the settings for duplicating displays. - Ensure that you are selecting the correct display modes for both the monitor and projector to be duplicated. 5. Monitor and Projector Settings: - Make sure that both the monitor and projector support the resolution you are trying to set for duplication (1024 x 768). - Check the settings on the monitor and projector to ensure they are set to "Duplicate" mode if applicable. 6. Windows Resolution Settings: - In Windows 7, go to Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Display Settings. - Set the resolution to 1024 x 768 for both the monitor and projector, then try duplicating the displays again. 7. Test with Different Cables: - If possible, try using different cables (VGA or other compatible options) to connect the monitor and projector to rule out any cable-related issues. 8. Additional Checks: - Restart your computer after making changes to ensure that the settings are applied correctly. - Check for any Windows updates that may affect display settings. If after following these steps you still encounter issues with duplicating displays, you may also consider testing your setup with another computer to determine if the problem lies with the graphics card or the display devices.
