Here is the issue:

When I print anyting, adobe, excel, word, text doc, e-mail etc., and I select more than one copy it actually multiplies my copies. This seems to be happening to only me, the other two techs who have the same software as I do print just fine.

Now this is not just one printer but any printer in our firm. I did a firmware update on our IT printer and updated the drivers for the printer as well. This did not solve the issue, but since it's only me and with all the printers I think it's a windows 7 setting.

Any Ideas?

It sounds like an interesting issue you're facing with printing multiple copies on Windows 7. Since the problem persists across all printers in your firm, it does suggest it may be related to a specific setting on your Windows 7 system. Here are a few steps you can follow to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this printing issue:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Printer Properties Check:
    • Ensure that the default settings for your printer are correct. You can access this by going to Control Panel -> Devices and Printers, right-click on your printer, and select Printing Preferences. Check settings like the number of copies, paper size, etc.

    []Check Printing Preferences:
    • Verify the printing preferences within the application you are printing from (Adobe, Excel, Word, etc.). Make sure the number of copies is set to 1.

    ]Printer Drivers:
    • Reinstall the printer drivers on your Windows 7 system. Sometimes, corrupted printer drivers can cause such issues.
    []Microsoft Fix-it Tool:
    • Microsoft offers a "Fix-it" tool that can diagnose and fix printing problems. You can download it from the Microsoft Support page.
    [
    ]Reset Printer Spooler:
    • Try resetting the printer spooler service by opening a command prompt with administrative privileges and running the command net stop spooler && net start spooler.
    []User Profile:
    • Create a new user account on your Windows 7 system and see if the issue persists when printing from that account. This will help determine if the problem is related to your user profile.
    [
    ]Group Policy or System Settings:
    • Check for any group policies or system settings that may be affecting the printing behavior. You can review the Group Policy settings related to printing.
  2. Windows Updates:
    • Ensure that your Windows 7 system is up to date with the latest updates. Sometimes, Microsoft releases printer-related updates that could address such issues.

      Additional Considerations:

      • It might be beneficial to compare your Windows 7 settings with the other techs who are not experiencing this issue to see if there are any notable differences.
      • Document any specific error messages or details that occur during the printing process, as they may provide clues to the root cause.
By systematically going through these troubleshooting steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue with printing multiple copies on your Windows 7 system. Let me know if you need further assistance or if you have any updates on your progress!
