Windows 7 Windows 7 "sees" printer but will not connect to it.

I have a printer connected to my network via ethernet. It is a Brother MFC-J825DW

PC1 - no problem - I find and install the printer using the "add a printer" option under "devices and printers" that I have used without issue in the past.

PC2 - PROBLEM - when using "add a printer" the correct printer is identified but will not install. The computer seems to hang when searching for the IP address.

--- Attempt 1: manually enter the IP address for the printer. DOES NOT WORK PC hangs at install.
--- Attempt 2: downloaded Brother utility which correctly identifies the printer and its IP address but "add a printer" (through wizard or manually) still will not work.

NOTE: Printer is set to "share this printer"

Ideas?

Welcome to the forums!

1. Try to connect the printer directly (not via network) to the client computer. Does it install and function properly?
2. Do both computers have the same operating system? (They don't have to, but this information will help in trying to solve this).

Get back and we'll go from there.
