The October 10, 2017 Monthly Rollup for Windows 7 SP1, KB4041681, includes several important fixes and updates. Here's a summary of the key points from the release notes:

Resolved Issues:

  • Fixes issues related to docking and undocking Internet Explorer windows.
  • Addresses problems with form submissions, URL encoding, element focus, and graphics rendering in Internet Explorer.
  • Resolves a critical issue where USBHUB.SYS was causing memory corruption leading to random system crashes.
  • Contains security updates for various components like Windows Search, Kernel-mode drivers, Graphics, Internet Explorer, Wireless Networking, JET Database Engine, and the Windows SMB Server.

Known Issues:

After installing KB4041681, users may encounter an error dialog indicating an application exception during application closure, particularly affecting apps using mshtml.dll for loading web content. These errors occur only during the process shutdown and do not impact application functionality. A resolution is being worked on for future releases.

How to Get the Update:

The update will be automatically downloaded and installed via Windows Update. Alternatively, you can access the standalone package for this update from the http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=KB4041681.
